Prince Harry targeted ‘fickle US audience’ with James Corden TV appearance
PRINCE HARRY was targeting America's "famously fickle" audience with his latest public appearance according to a leading royal expert.
Piers Morgan hits out at ‘embarrassing’ Prince Harry interview
The Duke of Sussex appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in a 17-minute clip. In the footage the two Britons travel around Los Angeles in an open top bus before completing a military style assault course.
They also visited the house where The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was filmed where Mr Corden spoke to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, via FaceTime.
An eagerly anticipated 90-minute interview with the Sussexes by Oprah Winfrey is due to be broadcast next Sunday.
According to Camilla Tominey, associate editor of the Daily Telegraph, Harry’s video was “carefully-choreographed” to target an American audience.
Writing for the paper she said: “While next Sunday’s 90-minute Oprah special is largely focusing on Meghan, with a side order of Harry, this was about serving up a slice of Montecito monarchy to an eager American audience.
“Hence the rather laboured references to Royals not carrying cash or travelling on buses, which the Yanks lap up as greedily as episodes of Downton Abbey.”
Ms Tominey later added: “It may well prove to be a winning formula in America, where the rich and famous can control a media that largely worships at the altar of celebrity.
“Yet while many will rightly feel sympathetic towards Harry for the mental anguish he has suffered, they are also likely to have more reliable memories than his new-found and famously fickle US audience.”
During his appearance with Mr Corden Harry discussed his relationship with Meghan in more detail.

The couple met on a blind date in London’s Soho in July 2016 having been setup by a mutual friend.
The Prince admitted their romance went from “zero to 60” within a matter of weeks.
He explained: “The second date I was starting to think, wow, this is pretty special.
“It wasn't where we went, it's the way we hit it off with each other. We were just so comfortable in each other's company.

“Dating with me, or any other member of the Royal family, is flipped upside down.
“All the dates become dinners or watching TV or chatting at home, then once you become a couple you venture out for dinner and to the cinema.
“Everything was done back to front with us. So actually, we got to spend an enormous amount of time as just the two of us rather than going to friends’ houses.”
Harry and Meghan sensationally stepped down from frontline royal duty in March 2020 and moved to California.
Instead the couple vowed to become “financially independent” and have since signed major deals with Netflix and Spotify.
Currently the Sussexes are living in a £11.2million mansion in Santa Barbara, north of Los Angeles.
They luxury property comes complete with a swimming pool, tennis court and children’s cottage.

Earlier this month Meghan revealed she is pregnant having tragically suffered a miscarriage last year.
