The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can be seen sitting on a bale of straw with their three children. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis beam at the camera as they pose with their parents in front of chopped blocks of wood.
Kensington Palace tweeted the photo with the message: “The Duke and Duchess are delighted to share a new image of their family, which features on their Christmas card this year.”
The release of the adorable snap comes after the picture was leaked online last week.
The family portrait was taken at William and Kate’s Norfolk mansion, Anmer Hall.
The Christmas card will be sent to their friends, associates and the long list of charities and organisations they work with.
The Cambridges and their children are all casually dressed for their Christmas photograph, taken at Anmer Hall, which has a large woodpile as its backdrop.
Photographer Matt Porteous took the image and has received royal commissions in the past from William and Kate, including capturing behind the scenes moments from Louis' christening.
The release of the picture follows the rare public appearance of the Cambridges' children who, with their parents, attended a London pantomime on Friday for key workers and their families.

One woman wrote: "This is so sweet. Louis, between this and 'what animal do you like' you are stealing my heart."
A second person tweeted: "Thank you for posting this picture, such a beautiful family.
