PRINCE EDWARD was left embarrassed as the Queen was forced to step in after multiple career failures, according to a royal expert.

Royal Family commentator Richard Kay argued Prince Edward was left humiliated after failing two career options. Channel 5's royal documentary, Edward and Sophie: Reluctant Royals, highlighted the milestones of Prince Edward and Sophie's life. Following his failed entertainment and military career, Prince Edward was generously given a loan from his mother to ensure he and his wife could become working members of the royal family.
Mr Kay said: "It was a humiliating moment for Edward.
"This was because he failed to become a marine and he failed to make it as a television filmmaker.
"For Sophie, it was more bittersweet because she had been quite successful."
Royal commentator Angela Levin reflected on the crucial role the Queen had in ensuring the future of the two royals.

She said: "The Queen very generously gave Edward and Sophie £200,000.
"This was to set them up and give them a chance.
"This was also so they could pay for things that they needed and become full-time working royal members."
The documentary went into great detail of Prince Edward's attempted career paths and his feelings towards them.

Prince Edward differentiated himself from his brothers after choosing to quit his royal marine training.
The choice proved controversial as the men of the Royal Family had long-served in some form of the military services.
Royal commentator Ingrid Seward admitted the Prince had spoken to her about quitting the marines.

She said: " "Prince Edward told me this himself.
"He said he just felt that he could never quite be one of the boys.
"He always felt that they looked at him differently.
"I personally think that made him uncomfortable."
