Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were meant to return to the UK this week for special reason
MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry were due to return to the UK this weekend and reunite with other members of the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle: Experts discuss anniversary celebrations
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sensationally quit as senior royals at the beginning of the year and moved to Canada with their one-year-old son Archie after participating in their last official duties. Last month the couple moved to LA but they had been due to reunite with the Royal Family in the UK for this very special reason.
Although it was unconfirmed, it is likely Meghan and Harry would have been invited, and attended, the wedding of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday May 29.
The royal wedding was due to take place at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, followed by a reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
But the couple made the heartbreaking decision to cancel the wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic.
At first, Beatrice and Edo just cancelled the reception but was later forced to cancel the entire event.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances.
“In line with Government advice for the UK and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements for 29th May.
“They are particularly conscious of Government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people.
“Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place.

“The couple will carefully consider Government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends.”
But when Government guidance changed, and Boris Johnson banned weddings and large gatherings, the couple cancelled their plans to marry in May.
Buckingham Palace is yet to announce a new date for the nuptials.
Princess Beatrice, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is currently spending the coronavirus lockdown with her fiancé Edo and his mother, Nikki Shale, at her £1.5million country home near Chipping Norton, in Oxfordshire.

The royal's current whereabout were revealed by her mother, the Duchess of York, on a recent podcast.
Meghan and Harry were likely to attend Princess Beatrice's wedding, as the Duke has always been close to his cousins, Beatrice and Eugenie, since they were children.
The couple attended Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding at St George's Chapel, Windsor, in October 2018.
The York sisters were also guests at Meghan and Harry's wedding on May 19 of the same year.
Meghan and Harry celebrated their second wedding anniversary last week.
They are understood to have celebrated the occasion with Mexican food and margaritas and spent much of the day video-chatting with friends and family.
