Prince William’s intimate show of affection with Carole Middleton exposed
PRINCE WILLIAM allegedly had a curious way of showing his affection for his mother-in-law Carole Middleton, according to a royal expert.
Middleton family 'actively' involved in raising Prince George
William has been close to the Middleton family for years, ever since he started dating Kate Middleton back in 2003. While Kate had to wait five years before meeting William’s grandmother the Queen, he was soon welcomed into the Middleton fold. The second-in-line to the throne is said to have found great solace in their remote Berkshire home away from the pressures that accompany his royal role.
NBC’s royal correspondent Ashley Pearson explained on the 2019 documentary, ‘William and Harry: Brothers in Arms’, how the Duke of Cambridge had become infatuated with Kate’s family.
Ms Pearson explained: “Talking to a royal insider several years ago, she told me one of the reasons William fell in love with Kate Middleton from the very beginning was because of her family and her close relationship with her siblings and parents.
“As much as William fell in love with Kate, he definitely fell in love with the Middleton family at the same time.”
The Middletons are famously down to earth and not directly linked to aristocracy so it is no surprise that William appeared to love the normality which they offered to him.
However, he became particularly close with Kate’s mother, Carole, after his own mother Princess Diana died in a tragic car accident in 1997.
Ms Pearson said that when William visited the family home, “he would lie on the sofa with his head in the lap of Mrs Middleton”.
Although Prince Charles remarried in 2005, William struggled to warm to his second wife Camilla Parker Bowles.
Her long-term affair with Charles during his marriage to Diana left the Duke of Cambridge feeling unsettled for some time around his stepmother.

It is natural, then, that he would be able to find a substitute mother figure in Carole Middleton.
A source close to Kate’s family explained: “William’s-in-laws have become like second parents and Carole is almost a Diana-type mum.”
Indeed, in February, royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Carole Middleton is very much a power behind the throne and her influence is immense.”
Mrs Middleton also revealed her thoughts on her royal son-in-law during her first solo interview with The Telegraph back in 2018.

Although she did not divulge much, she mentioned that she has “two lovely sons-in-law”.
Kate’s brother James was believed to be single at the time of her interview.
Mrs Middleton also emphasises how she is predominantly a family woman.
She explained that her “biggest fear” was that she would “lose my family, but we’ve stayed close”.
Ms Pearson also explained that William was on good terms with Kate’s father, Michael.
She said: “He would sit after dinner and talk for hours with Mr Middleton.
"Feeling part of that close, tight-knit, very British family was the first time in his life that he’d had that experience, and for William it was entirely intoxicating.”
Ms Pearson continued: “He loved the way Kate was very friendly and playful with her brother James or her sister Pippa.”
William used to be exceptionally close to his brother Prince Harry, however, the two have drifted in recent years.
Harry now lives in California, LA, with his wife Meghan Markle and their one-year-old son Archie.
