The WEF’s mission is cited as being “committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas”.
Experts are suggesting that fraternising with WEF attendees could land the Sussexes £1billion with the right mix of corporate deals and brand ambassador roles.
PR expert Mark Borkowski said of the move: “This does not surprise me at all.”
A banking source told the Mirror: “Harry and Meghan have set a clear path to work with big banks and corporate giants as well as doing altruistic work with charities.
“The mix works well with the target audience and the celebrity set.
“However, it is sure to raise eyebrows in royal circles.
“It has echoes of other royals criticised for touting themselves to the highest bidder and all becomes rather tawdry.”

Harry’s links to global banks are believed to date back to November when the Duke held talks with Goldman Sachs.
The Daily Mirror reported contact had been made with the controversial bank around the same time the Sussexes were seriously considering quitting the Royal Family.
Goldman Sachs hosts regular Talks at GS events which have in the past seen the likes of David Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow give speeches.
The bank does not pay guest speakers but sources say a relationship between the Sussexes and Goldman Sachs might pave the way for the couple to pocket large sums of money.
But the Sussexes’ courting of big corporations is alarming some who fear the royal brand could be tainted by its association with companies like Goldman Sachs.
The investment bank was at the centre of the 2008 financial crisis.
In 2016, it agreed to pay a $5billion settlement for its role in the crash.
The Sussexes are not believed to have pocketed any money from speeches as of yet.
Harry and Meghan have applied to trademark the term ‘Sussex Royal’, which they use on their website, charitable foundation and Instagram account.
However, it appears the Queen will ban them from using it because the pair have given up their His/Her Royal Highness titles.
Of the reported ban, a source told The Daily Mail: “In many ways, this is inevitable given their decision to step down, but it must surely come as a blow to the couple as they have invested everything into the Sussex Royal brand.”
They added: "If they aren’t carrying out official duties and are now seeking other commercial opportunities, they simply cannot be allowed to market themselves as royals.”
