Meghan Markle ‘has most likely checked out’ of UK after Buckingham Palace’s statement
MEGHAN MARKLE “has most likely checked out” of the UK after the bombshell statement from the palace last night, one royal commentator suggested.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reveal deal to lose royal titles
The terms of Meghan and Harry’s exit deal will come into effect in Spring 2020, Buckingham Palace announced yesterday. This left commentators speculating whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who will remain working royals for a couple more months, will carry out any engagements in the UK.
ITV royal correspondent Chris Ship suggested, after having spoken to Buckingham Palace, that the Duke will likely take advantage of the next few weeks to continue working on behalf of the Queen.
On the other hand, Meghan seems to have already “checked out” of the country and her full-time royal job.
He wrote on Twitter: “Will there be further royal engagements in the UK for the Sussexes?, I asked.
“‘Yes’ came the reply.
“‘Will it be BOTH Harry and Meghan?’
“Reply: ‘We are not commenting on the detail’.
“Seems to me Meghan has most likely checked out of the UK as well as the Royal Family.”

Express.co.uk understands there aren’t any royal engagements signed up for either the Duke or Duchess of Sussex.
If and when Meghan and Harry will take on royal duties within the next few weeks, they will be announced through the usual channels.
Buckingham Palace have released the terms of Meghan and Harry’s exit deal yesterday evening.
In its statement, the palace clarified that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still part of the family and royals.
However, they will no longer be able to use their HRH styles as they won’t be working members from Spring 2020.
The statement read: “As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments.
“They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties.
With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations.
“While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.
“The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.
“This new model will take effect in the Spring of 2020.”
This changes came after Meghan and Harry released a bombshell statement on Wednesday last week, announcing their intention to step back as senior royals.
In their announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they wanted to carve out a new progressive role for themselves while remaining part of the Royal Family.
And, their statement read, they wanted to continue honouring “our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages”.
However, the deal agreed between the Queen and the Sussexes sees Meghan and Harry renouncing to taking part in royal tours, official royal duties and engagements - including military appointments.
Buckingham Palace’s statement also revealed Meghan and Harry’s intention to “repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home.”
Frogmore Cottage, one of the Queen’s properties in Windsor, was refurbished using £2.4m of taxpayers’ money between late 2018 and early 2019.
The Sussexes have been living there since the early Spring of last year, and welcomed there their firstborn, Archie Harrison.
