Piers Morgan accuses Meghan Markle and Prince Harry of behaving like ‘spoiled brats’
MEGHAN and Prince Harry have been accused of behaving like a pair of “spoiled brats” as the furore over their decision to quit as senior royals continues.
Prince William and Harry row is ‘ongoing’ says Piers Morgan
Piers Morgan took to Twitter to hit out at the suggestion that the Duke of Sussex remains “tortured” by the death of his mother more than two decades after she was tragically killed in a car crash. The host of ITV’s Good Morning Britain refuted the claim that Harry’s personal torment had played a part in his move away from the royal family and its traditional dealings with the press. Going forward, Meghan and Harry said they will restrict media access to their official engagements and no longer participate in the “royal rotation” system.
In an opinion piece, the Guardian’s media editor Jim Waterson recalled his experience covering the couple’s first overseas tour in autumn 2018, which saw them spend 16 days in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
He told of how one royal correspondent among the press pack had described Harry as “very tortured”.
But Piers hit back at the notion the sixth-in-line to the throne was suffering immensely under media scrutiny and could no longer bear to be in the spotlight.
He said: “He’s not ‘tortured’ when he & Meghan regularly use the press to promote themselves.”
Piers went on to issue a stinging attack on the couple, accusing them of behaving like naughty children.
He said: “They’re just a pair of spoiled brats who only want positive media coverage (of which they’ve had a LOT) & throw their toys out of the pram if it’s negative (usually deserved).”
His latest rant against the ex-actress and her royal husband split opinion on Twitter.
Some accused Piers of obsessing over the Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35.

One person responded: “Your obsession with this couple is unhealthy for you sir. Get well soon.”
Another said: “They’re really getting to you aren’t they? Just try to ignore them, you’ll feel better for it.”
And a third said Piers was “getting a bit obsessed now”.

But others agreed with the analysis that the Queen’s grandson was still haunted by the loss of his mum at such a young age.
One person said: “This is where I think you are wrong @piersmorgan - what happened to his mum will never leave him and I do not believe they court the press.
“BUT I do believe they were disrespectful to the Queen - FACT.”
BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt, who has interviewed Harry on a number of occasions, has said he believes the duke has an “unhealthy obsession” with the media’s coverage of him.
TalkRadio’s Breakfast Show presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer also weighed in on the debate on Friday morning.
She said Meghan’s comments about her personal struggles made in an ITV documentary shot in Africa showed the American-born duchess needed to “get things in perspective”.
