ROYAL FAMILY members take part in a number of official engagements throughout the year. So which is the hardest working Royal Family in Europe?

By analysing the official calendars of the Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Spanish royal families, it’s possible to determine which of them worked the hardest in 2019. It must be noted that any work not listed in the official calendars cannot be accounted for.
A member of the Danish Royal Family had an official engagement on 227 days in 2019.
That is equal to 62 percent of the year, and increased from 220 days in 2018.
Queen Margrethe was the busiest with 116 days worked, followed by Crown Princess Mary who had engagements on 104 days.
The Danes were busiest in June, attending 28 engagement, while July was a more low-key affair with jut eight days worked.

Over in Sweden, a member of the royal family had a publicly announced event on 223 days of the year.
King Carl XVI Gustaf was the busiest family member and attended 141 engagements.
Crown Princess Victoria, who had her busiest year to date, worked 138 days and her mother Queen Silvia had 126 engagements.
Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia worked a similar amount of days than in 2018.
In Norway, Crown Prince Haakon worked almost twice as many days as his mother in 2019.
The 46-year-old was busy on 156 days of the year, while Queen Sonja worked 70 days.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit worked less than in 2018 because she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in October 2018.
King Harald, 82, still works a lot, usually hosting audiences several days a week.

The hardest working European royal can be found in Spain.
King Felipe VI worked on 180 days in 2019, and his wife Queen Letizia on 123.
In total, the Spanish Royal Family worked on 205 days of the year.
That is less than the Danish Royal Family, who as a whole were the hardest working in Europe.
