QUEEN ELIZABETH II is looking for a talented gardener to “help shape the future of the gardens” - who will get to live in Buckingham Palace.

The Queen is hiring a gardener who will “care for the gardens that thousands will admire”. According to the job description published on the Royal Household’s website, the successful applicant will receive a salary starting from £18k per annum.
They will also receive a 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme and benefits.
And they will get to live at Buckingham Palace, with an accommodation and meals provided.
The position is full time and requires applicants to have “a minimum qualification of Horticulture NVQ 2”, experience operating a wide range of garden machinery and a C1 UK licence to drive lorries.
The job description read: “It’s taking every opportunity to make your mark.
“And it’s the pride in joining a team at the heart of a world famous institution.
“This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.”
The successful applicant, the description continued, will join a tight-knit team of professionals.
It said: “The Gardens and Grounds team at The Royal Household maintain and care for gardens that are seen by thousands of visitors and guests every year.

“Joining this small team of qualified gardeners, you’ll help ensure the Royal Gardens and surrounding areas of Buckingham Palace and St. James’s Palace are maintained to a high standard.
“From regular mowing and edging, to raking and re-seeding, you’ll also maintain the shrub, herbaceous and rose borders whilst monitoring and nurturing the health of plants, and young trees.
“Helping to shape the future of the gardens, you’ll plant new shrubbery, bulbs and seasonal flower displays, ensuring that they continue to provide a spectacular setting for a historic building.
“And in conserving the garden’s rich biodiversity, you’ll contribute to its unique history whilst learning from expert colleagues.”
Those desiring to work for the Royal Household have until January 28 to file their applications.
This isn’t the only position available at Buckingham Palace.
Her Majesty is also looking for a Head of Digital Engagement to oversee her social media accounts and website.
This isn’t a live-in role, and the salary is almost double the one offered to the hopeful gardener - ranging from £45k to £50k a year.

“Whether you’re covering a State Visit, award ceremony or Royal engagement, you’ll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences.”
