Queen fury: Royal aide reveals error that could cause 'trip to Tower' – 'ignore at peril'
A ROYAL chef has revealed the expected punishment for staff who make a simple error when preparing food for the Queen.

Royal chef Darren McGrady explained the rules and policies surrounding preparing food for the Queen. While on the Channel 5 royal documentary Secrets of the Royals Mr McGrady explained that under no circumstances should a chef prepare food that is out of season to the Queen. He joked that giving the Queen strawberries in January would result in a trip to the former torture castle, the Tower of London.
The royal documentary narrator said: “The Queen has particular tastes which a chef ignores at his peril."
Royal chef Des Sweeney said: “The Queen knows what she likes.
“I think too spicy because she meets that many people the last thing she wants is garlic on her breath or last night's curry."
Royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell added: “The Queen doesn’t eat garlic and she doesn’t serve garlic.

“Of course the Queen is concerned that garlic clings to the being and you can smell it on the breath.”
The narrator noted: “If food is offered out of season, heads will roll.”
Royal chef Darren McGrady explained: “If you try and serve strawberries out of season it is off to the Tower of London with you, you are in trouble.”
He also explained the process the chefs and the Queen go through to decide on dinner.

He said: “The Queen has a royal menu book.
“It is completed by the chef and the chef does three days of menus and that gives us enough time to get all the produce in and prepare it.
“When the menu book goes up to the Queen she puts a line through the dishes she doesn’t want.”

Mr Sweeney added: “The Queen has a HP pencil.
“She’ll tick one or add something she would prefer.
Mr McGrady closed by saying: “If she is out for dinner she’ll put a line through the page.
“If she has got guests coming she’ll put two or three so that we know that she is entertaining.”
