Princess Haya leaves London’s High Court with legal team
Princess Haya of Jordan is the estranged wife of UAE vice president and prime minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum. She married the 70-year-old ruler of the Emirate of Dubai in 2004, becoming his sixth and most junior wife. Sheikh Mohammed made part of his $4 billion (£3.3 billion) fortune from his family business the Godolphin racing stables and Darley, a thoroughbred breeding programme which operates in six countries. She is back in court this week for legal proceedings with her estranged husband over the custody of their children.
Who is Princess Haya?
Princess Haya bint Hussein is the daughter of King Hussein of Jordan and his third wife Queen Alia, and the half-sister of King Abdullah II.
She was born in Jordan but was educated in Britain at schools in Bristol and later at Oxford University for her degree.
The 45-year-old married Sheikh Mohammed when she was aged 29, and later gave birth to two children.

In June 2019, it was revealed that she had fled from her husband in Dubai with her children and was seeking asylum in the United Kingdom, reportedly in fear for her life.
Sheikh Mohammed and Princess Haya are awaiting their court date in the UK courts and recently they issued a joint statement about the ongoing legal proceedings.
The statement read: “These proceedings are concerned with the welfare of the two children of their marriage, and do not concern divorce or finances.”
The case is due to be heard in the UK’s High Court in November.
