Royal lookalike: Prince George just like dad William in new birthday pics
PRINCE GEORGE looks uncannily like father Prince William in a series of snaps taken by mum - and William’s wife - Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince George's hilarious verdict on Chelsea Flower Show garden
The pictures, taken in the garden of the family home at Kensington Palace, have been released to mark George’s sixth birthday tomorrow. The third in line to the throne shows a striking resemblance to his dad at a similar age in a picture taken with Princess Diana in 1989. In one picture, George laughs happy while wearing a white England football shirt.
In another, he basks in the sunshine, wearing the same shirt.
A third shows him wearing a green polo shirt and striped blue and white shorts.
Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born at 4.24pm on July 22, 2013, weighing a hefty weighing 8lb 6oz.
He was introduced to the world the next day, when his parents emerged from the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.
On this occasion, he was wrapped in a white merino wool shawl, cradled in his proud parents’ arms.
George, who is the Queen’s great-grandchild, has been snapped on the balcony of Buckingham Palace balcony over the past year as well exploring Kate’s Chelsea Flower Show garden.
He is also tennis enthusiast, having had a lesson from the legendary Roger Federer, who visited the prince at the home of Kate’s parents in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and concluded “cute” George had a “good” technique.
Kate, who is a passionate tennis fan, is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), the organisation which stages Wimbledon.
The picture of William was taken as he and Princess Diana watched the Cartier Polo Trophy match with Prince on July 7, 1989.
Diana, a famously hands-on mum, contrasted with previous generations of royals by having her children Prince William and brother Prince Harry with her for much of the time, blazing a trail which Kate appears to have followed.
George, sister Princess Charlotte and baby brother Prince Louis enjoy plenty of fresh air, with Kate promoting the health benefits of the great outdoors.
She told Blue Peter presenter Lindsey Russell while launching a competition for the children’s television show: “Rain or shine, they’re dragged outside.”
The young Prince helped provide inspiration for Kate’s Chelsea Flower Show Back To Nature garden in May, requesting stepping stones over a mini pool.
George will begin Year 2 at St Thomas’s Battersea school in September - his final year in the Lower School, before moving up the Middle School.
Yearly fees for George are £19,287 while sister Charlotte is given a slight discount for being a second child at £18,915.
The new school year will bring a few changes for George, with Thomas’s asking Year 2 children to become more responsible, including recording their own homework in their diaries, so the “increasing independence allows for a smooth transition to the Prep School”.
