REVEALED: The 'ELUSIVE' trait Prince Charles has that made him PERFECT for Royal Navy
PRINCE CHARLES was a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy and he had an “elusive” trait that made him perfect for the role, according to one of his shipmates.
Prince Charles was 'perfect for the Navy' says former shipmate
Paul Henke, who was on the minehunter HMS Bronington with the Prince, expressed his fondness for him in a 2015 YouTube documentary entitled ‘Charles, Prince of Wales: A Life Full of Madness’. He said: “Great chap. He has self-deprecating humour, he’s intelligent, hard-working, focused. I know it’s contrite to say, but he has that elusive thing called ‘officer-like qualities’.”
Unfortunately, Charles’ career was to be cut short as a result of an incident that happened on board the ship.
Mr Henke said that Charles made a mistake while on exercise off the coast of Anglesey, north Wales, that drew criticism from the Navy.
Mr Henke explained: “When we came to anchor up in the morning to move as a squadron, Prince Charles pulled his anchor up to find the truss channel telephone cable was hooked on the flukes of his anchor.
“They spent a long time trying to get rid of that cable.

“Finally, they had to ditch one and a half shackles of phosphor-bronze chain, which is probably the most valuable thing that naval minehunters carry.”
Charles left the Navy just three months after the incident.
According to Mr Henke, Charles wanted to do well in the Navy for the sake of his great uncle Louis Mountbatten.
The Earl Mountbatten of Burma had been Admiral of the Fleet, the highest rank in the Royal Navy.
He had been a Supreme Allied Commander during World War Two and later First Sea Lord from 1954 to 1959, and then the Chief of the Defence Staff until 1965.
Mr Henke said the Navy seamen “revered” Earl Mountbatten and that he was sure Charles “loved him very much”.
When Charles did leave the Navy, he was sent on his way with peculiar tradition – as his peers draped a toilet seat around his neck.
