Kate, who now has three children with Prince William, had quite a privileged upbringing, attending public schools such as Downe House and Wiltshire’s Marlborough College, which costs up to £36,000 a year. But Kate also had two jobs before marrying into the Royal Family. After graduating from St Andrews in 2005 with a 2:1 in Art History, she joined UK clothing chain Jigsaw as a part-time assistant accessories buyer.
Co-founder of Jigsaw Belle Robinson said in 2008 Kate “needed an element of flexibility to continue the relationship with a very high-profile man and a life that she can't dictate”.
Ms Robinson sorted out a job so Kate could work three days a week.
Ms Robinson added: "I have to say I was so impressed by her.
“There were days when there were TV crews at the end of the drive.
“We'd say: 'Listen, do you want to go out the back way?' and she'd say ‘to be honest, they're going to hound us until they've got the picture.
“So why don't I just go, get the picture done, and then they'll leave us alone.”
After quitting her job at Jigsaw in 2008, Kate went to work for her parents' company.
She was in charge of the photography as well as editing catalogues for Carole and Michael Middleton's party planning business.
Party Pieces is believed to be worth around a staggering £30million.
Kate quit her job a few months before her Royal Wedding in 2011.
Time has estimated that Kate's net worth stood at around £5.3million before she joined the Royal Family.
The majority of Kate’s net worth came from her family’s business, and her lavish London lifestyle was also funded by the company’s success.

During her time in London, Kate lived in her parent’s £1.4million flat in London’s affluent Chelsea.
Prince William also has a huge personal net worth with him being worth somewhere between £19 and £30million.
But despite their huge fortunes, most of William and Kate’s expenses are covered by Prince Charles’ estate.
Charles’ estate pays for the upkeep, including staff, clothing and travel expenses, for both the Cambridges and now the Sussexes – Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
