Meghan Markle bombshell: Heartbroken brother reveals he hasn’t seen her in EIGHT years
MEGHAN Markle has not seen her brother Thomas Markle Jr in eight years, it has been revealed.
Mr Markle said his last meeting with his half-sister, long before she became the Duchess of Sussex, was shrouded in sadness. The pair bumped into each other at their grandmother’s funeral in 2011 - which would be the last time they were in the same room before Meghan’s acting career took off and she married Prince Harry. The 53-year-old, who was in his teens when Meghan was born, told New! magazine Meghan was “unbelievably” close to their father’s mother - Doris Markle - and was left broken by her passing.
He said: “She came to her funeral in 2011 and was unbelievably sad. It was really hard for her.
“She was in a new relationship with her first husband and had a lot going on with her Hollywood career.
“It was the last time I saw Meghan.”
In the run up to the Windsor wedding, Mr Markle sent an open letter to Prince Harry warning him from marrying Meghan.
He urged the prince to backtrack on his plan to wed the former actress, saying it would become “the biggest mistake in royal wedding history”.
Shortly after their grandmother’s funeral, the pair drifted apart as Meghan relocated to Toronto and shot to fame in Suits.
The father-of-two said Meghan distanced herself from her family which he believes was down to her newfound success and fortune.
He said: “She was probably concentrating on her career and didn’t need our father like she did before.
“She turned into a Hollywood starlet and she was focused on her career so much that… I get it.
“I get being in that world, because once you start down that path you’re going to do everything it takes to be successful.”
Mr Markle, who was not invited to the royal wedding, said his fondest memory of Meghan is watching her interact with their grandmother, who suffered from dementia and spent her final years in a nursing home.
He explained before she headed to study at Northwestern’s School of Communication in Illinois, Meghan would routinely drop in to see her granny.
And he said nothing pleased his father Thomas more than watching Meghan spend time with her paternal grandmother.
Born Doris May Rita Sander in New Hampshire in 1921, she married Meghan’s grandfather Gordon Arnold Markle in Pennsylvania when she was 20. Thomas Markle - Meghan’s dad - was the couple’s only child.
“Meghan was her sunshine,” said Thomas, who was not invited to the royal wedding last May.
“Every time she came into the room, she beamed like a Christmas tree.

“Dad was always so happy about it. Meghan read her stories and showed her pictures from the family album.
“She was so patient with her and always made sure that grandma felt good. It was unbelievable how close they were.”
Having previously blasted Meghan, calling her ‘fake’, Mr Markle is now planning to try to patch things up with his estranged sister.
He said when he marries his fiancee Darlene Bount, 38, he wants the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend and is also urging her to reach out to her father.
