The gender of the Royal baby is kept a secret because Britons tend not to find it out in advance, according to commentator, Victoria Arbiter. While the Queen has not banned the exercise, Ms Arbiter said it was “Royal philosophy”. Writing for honey.nine.com, she said: “There’s a belief that there are so few surprises left in life why not save the biggest one for the moment a child is born.
“This is not just a Royal philosophy, many parents across the UK choose not to find out.”
Ms Arbiter has currently been tackling myths surrounding Meghan’s pregnancy rules.
Along with not knowing the gender, she stated Royals cannot hold baby showers.
While it is a “longstanding American tradition, most Brits prefer to bestow gifts once the baby’s been born and the sex revealed”.

The rule that the Queen must be informed of the baby’s birth first “comes down to a mark of respect”, according to Ms Arbiter.
It is tradition for Her Majesty to be informed on any major news first.
However, Ms Arbiter argued it is unlikely she would cause a fuss if Meghan was to call her mum first.
The expert also took on the myth that “Royal women are not allowed to travel while pregnant”.

The rule has found to be false as all the Royals have travelled while pregnant.
The Queen was on tour in Canada when she found out she was pregnant and did not return home.
Charles and Diana enjoyed a 10-day “second honeymoon” in Bermuda while Diana was six months pregnant with William.
The myth began when Kate, Duchess of Cambridge avoided travel during her pregnancies but she had actually suffered from acute morning sickness.
