MEGHAN Markle is expecting her first baby and the bookies are convinced she is having a girl called Diana - here are the latest odds.
Meghan Markle to make Kate Middleton want baby says expert
Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child this spring. Kensington Palace announced the royal couple were expecting in October last year. Royal watchers today got an exciting update after it emerged Meghan, 37, has been tipped to have a girl. Bookmakers Paddy Power is so confident Meghan is to have a daughter it has suspended all future betting on the baby’s gender.
But the really heart-warming revelation for fans is that Diana is the favourite baby name in honour of the late Princess Diana.
Paddy Power is currently offering odds of 8/1 on the choice.
A Paddy Power spokesman said: “The flow of bets over the course of the weekend has been almost as heavy as the general goodwill towards the couple – and we’re now convinced they’re having a girl.”
What are the odds on the other names?
Paddy Power’s current odds are:
- 13/1 Alice
- 14/1 Victoria
- 14/1 Grace
- 17/1 Elizabeth
- 17/1 Frances
- 17/1 Alexandra
However, Ladbrokes revealed the current favourite name with its punters is Victoria at 8/1, putting it just ahead of Diana at 10/1.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Royal baby betting mania is very much hotting up right now with punters predicting Harry and Meghan will give birth to a girl named Victoria."
He added 75 percent of people having a flurry also appear to believe Meghan will have a girl.
If the Duchess of Sussex does have a daughter, she will make a welcome playmate for Princess Charlotte, three, who has to contend with two brothers.
Prince George, five, and Prince Louis, eight months, are the eldest and youngest children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
But Charlotte is no middle child wallflower, with mum Kate previously revealing her daughter has a “feisty” side.
When will Meghan have her baby?
While a springtime baby could arrive at any time between March and May, Meghan may have unwittingly revealed this week she is due sooner than expected.
An ‘outie’ rather than ‘innie’ belly button was sported by the Duchess as she wore a figure-hugging black dress to a royal charity engagement.
Doctor Dr Carol Cooper told The Sun this could be evidence Meghan was now in her trimester.
The medical expert said: ”It’s absolutely normal for the belly button to become more prominent in pregnancy.
"This happens because the pressure inside the abdomen rises as the pregnancy progresses.
"A woman who’s got an 'innie' often finds this becomes an 'outie' sometime after mid-pregnancy, often between 26 and 36 weeks.
"The timing isn’t reliable enough to make any predictions as to when the baby will arrive. Obviously, though, it does suggest the baby is growing.”
