Meghan Markle's father told to 'show some dignity' by expert
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have often been on the receiving end of barbs from Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Snr, in the press. He lashed out at the royal pair shortly after the New Year, in the latest of his outbursts since the Duchess of Sussex cut off contact with him after their May 2018 wedding. New Idea’s “Royals” podcast journalists Rebecca Hyde and Angela Mollard discuss the ongoing Markle family rift.
They explained how Meghan’s father has been “more strident than ever” with his latest comments in the media.
On the podcast, Ms Mollard commented: “I think anyone who offers this man a microphone, he seems to speak into it.
“The sad thing is, if he showed some dignity and didn’t speak he’s got a greater chance of achieving what he wants.”
She explained: “He wants to have some part in Meghan’s life and, of course, in her forthcoming baby’s life.”
Meghan and Prince Harry are expecting their first baby together this Spring.
Ms Mollard also explains how Mr Markle's presence provides a threat to the couple.
She added: “If they don’t speak to him he’s actually going to speak up even more.

“Not only is he playing victim, he’s also stating that he’s going to be more of a thorn in their side.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex originally cut off contact with Meghan’s father after he became embroiled in a series of staged paparazzi photos prior to their wedding, despite Meghan urging him not to speak to the press.
He told the Daily Mail: “It’s hopeful that if Meghan and Harry came and my father, Meghan and Harry could spend some time together with him.”
