Eastenders
One of the shows the Queen reportedly watches is long-running soap EasteEnders according to the Mirror.
A night-time guilty pleasure, EastEnders is watched in her private sitting room atop Buckingham Palace.
Dr Who
Another show is BBC classic, Doctor Who according to Radio Times’ Ben Dowell.
Mr Dowell claims “to have it on good authority the royals get the complete Doctor Who sent up to Scotland” whenever they are in Balmoral.
The Queen also greatly enjoys Downton Abbey and “loves to pick out the mistakes,” according to the author of At Home with the Queen, Brian Hoey.
Dad's Army
Mr Hoey also revealed the Queen loved to watch BBC sitcom Dad’s Army, which aired from 1968 until 1977.
The late Bill Pertwee, who played air raid warden William Hodges, discussed the show with Her Majesty when she gave him his MBE.
X Factor
According to X Factor contestant Mary Byrne, the Queen admitted in 2011 she never misses an episode of the show.
‘You are the lady off The X Factor,” The Queen reportedly told Ms Byrne “Your song was fabulous’.
The Bill
Various sources have reported that the Queen watched police drama The Bill when it was on the air.
“I don’t like The Bill but I just can’t help watching it,” the Mirror reported her as saying after a reporter landed a job as a royal footman in 2003.
Coach Trip
The monarch apparently also enjoys watching Channel 4’s Coach Trip.
The show’s presenter Brendan Sheerin told The Sun Her Majesty enjoys the show so much, she tells Palace aides to record episodes, so she is kept up to date.
The 58-year-old said: “I’ve heard the Queen has it recorded in when she’s away.
“It makes me so proud as I love the Queen. I think she’s an amazing lady, especially all the good things she’s done for this country. She’s phenomenal.”
Last of the Summer Wine
Reportedly the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh regularly watched TV’s longest-running sitcom Last of the Summer Wine which ran from 1973 to 2010 on the BBC.
Coronation Street
Coronation Street is another favourite of the Queen, and the Prince of Wales appeared in the 40th-anniversary episode in 2000.
The Queen Mother was also a lifelong fan.
The Crown
More recently, the Queen has reportedly watched Netflix series The Crown which centres around her own life.
“Edward and Sophie love The Crown,” a senior royal source said.
The source continued: “It has been a longstanding arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film. They have a Netflix account and urged her to watch it with them.
“Happily, she really liked it, although obviously there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatised.”
