Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could have ginger baby - Meghan’s genes hold key
PRINCE Harry’s red hair colour has been a defining trait of the royal and now speculation is rife as to whether his child with Meghan Markle will also have the same hair colour.

The Duke of Sussex was even hailed as a “ginger role model” during his royal tour in Australia, with fans holding up sign with comments such as ‘High five for a ginger!’.
Red hair is recessive and therefore the gene must be present in both parents for a child to be born with ginger hair.
Meghan would need to carry the MC1R ginger gene for the couple to have a ginger baby.
The mother-to-be is freckly indicating that she could carry the ginger gene.

Her half bother Thomas Markle has red hair, which is another sign that the gene could be in the family.
When Prince Harry arrived in Sydney, one young royal fan in Queensland held up a sign saying “Rangas rule”, Australian slang for red heads that comes from the word orang-utan.
One fan in Sydney said: “You get excited to see a fellow ranga.”
The 34-year-old has always been proud of his red hair and has been a confidence boost to thousands of young gingers across the world.
Last year in Nottingham, a man asked Prince Harry “How does it feel being a ginger with Meghan?”
In response, Prince Harry said: “It’s great isn’t it!? Unbelievable!”
Author of Red: A History of the Redhead, Jacky Colliss Harvey said: “All of us redheads in the UK are wildly excited about the possibility of a red-haired baby - fingers crossed.”
Even if the child is not ginger, Prince Harry carries the ginger gene and his children will receive a copy of it, which means they could have ginger children themselves in the next generation.
Only two to four percent of the world’s population are natural redheads so the royal baby would be extra special if they were to have this colour hair.
The royal baby is due in spring 2019 and the Duchess of Sussex is currently showing off her growing baby bump in Tonga on her first official overseas tour with her husband, Prince Harry.
