Meghan Markle due date: Meghan Markle could be further along than first thought
MEGHAN Markle is expecting her first child with Prince Harry, it was announced this week - but a chance Instagram post has revealed she may be further along in her pregnancy than anyone thought.
Meghan and Harry arrive in Dubbo on day two of Australia tour
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their good news on Monday in a statement released by Kensington Palace.
The statement said: “Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to announce the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in Spring 2019.”
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 33, revealed their good news as they touched down in Australia for the first leg of their 16-day overseas tour.
The mum-to-be was thought to be three months pregnant at the time as royal announcements usually follow the 12-week scan.
But an Instagram post by Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins stated the Duchess may be four months pregnant.
Meeting Meghan at a reception in Sydney hosted by the Governor-General, Missy wrote: “What an honour to meet the beautiful Duchess today! She was such a sweetheart.
“I said I felt sorry for her having to do all these meet-and-greets while 4 months pregnant! What a trooper.
“Prince Harry was gorgeous too, a real charmer. He squeezed Luna’s legs and said ‘who’s this little cutie?’
“Looking forward to telling Luna she slept through it all one day.”
Whether this was an accidental date slip or confusion over the baby’s arrival remains to be seen.
But if Meghan is four months pregnant then her baby will be due in March 2019, not April 2019 as expected.
Kensington Palace never reveals the exact due dates of pregnant female royals so we are unlikely to know until Meghan goes into labour.
Earlier, the Duchess demonstrated her maternal side in an adorable moment when a five-year-old boy gave her a bear hug at Dubbo airport
Meghan beamed widely as Luke Vincent, who has Down’s Syndrome, wrapped his arms around her for an impromptu embrace.
She also looked on in adoration as the Santa-Claus loving youngster was mesmerised by Harry, stroking his beard and leaning in for a cuddle.
Harry and Meghan were in the farming town in New South Wales today to discuss the plight of farmers dealing with drought.
But a massive downpour left the couple reaching for their umbrella as they watched aboriginal dances performed at Victoria Park.
Chat talked to babies when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with members of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), which provides medical care to remote areas.
David Charlton, RFDS aviation general manager, said the topic of babies being born in mid-air came up.
He said: “Our staff thought it was quite interesting, given the couple's current condition.
"The couple found it most amusing, and interesting.
"We all wanted to ask if it was a boy or a girl, but everyone behaved themselves."
