Cloudflare has suffered another outage, leaving dozens of sites unable to operate. The online service provides security, performance and routing, helping to connect users to platforms.

Cloudflare is one of the biggest networks on the Internet. People use Cloudflare for web application security and performance. The internet infrastructure firm includes tools that protect websites from cyber attacks and ensure that they stay online amid heavy traffic. Issues impacted websites including Uber, Workday and Microsoft Outlook.

Cloudflare acknowledged the issues at 6pm on Friday, reporting that customers were seeing an unusually high number of 403 error messages, which means the website is blocking access to the page instead of loading normally.

The company runs a huge network of servers spread across more than 330 cities in over 120 countries.

These servers allow websites to load quickly, remain secure and cope with heavy traffic.

The network is vast, processing huge volumes of data and linking with more than 13,000 other networks — including major internet providers, cloud platforms and global corporations.

The outage is the latest incident to affect the service in recent months leaving users furious with the subsequent disruption.

In November a similar outage left large parts of the web not working, with 17 major sites impacted.

The current outage is affecting the 1.1.1.1 landing page, which is the webpage people see when they visit the public Domain Name System address in a browser.

The firm said: “Cloudflare is investigating issues with our services and/or network.

“Users may experience errors or timeouts reaching Cloudflare’s network or services.

“We will update this status page to clarify the scope of impact as we continue the investigation.”

The most recent outage has left many internet users unable to use popular websites, including food takeaway sites.

One person wrote on X: “Imagine being hungry and Uber Eats app goes down.”

Another posted: “So my Uber eats app just stopped working as my order is on its way.”

Meanwhile a spokesperson for Bet365, a company that is also suffering technical difficulties, told irritated customers: “We’re aware of an issue with our Website/App, and our Technical Team are working to resolve it as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
