Apple's iPhone Air hits record low price but £200 discount won't last long

Amazon’s new ultra-thin iPhone just dropped to a record low price, but the deal won’t last long. With much of the hype now settling after the new iPhone 17 series launch last year, Amazon has just knocked £200 off the iPhone Air.
Usually £999, it’s now up for grabs at £799. This represents a 20% discount and is the lowest price since its September launch, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel.
Amazon has not set an end date for the deal, but some variants are already selling out with only limited stock of select colours. Currently available in the deal is the 256GB iPhone Air in Cloud White, Space Black and Light Gold.
Apple’s iPhone Air marked one of the most significant physical updates we’ve seen on an iPhone in recent years, and it measures just 5.6mm thin. This makes it the thinnest model ever, while its 165g weight means it’s the lightest too.
Despite this, it’s designed to last thanks to its tough titanium frame and 6.5” Super Retina XDR display with Ceramic Shield on both sides for added protection. Inside, it’s powered by the latest A19 Pro chip so it can run smoothly and efficiently, alongside Apple Intelligence features, iOS 26 software and an advanced 48MP Fusion camera system.
Elsewhere, giffgaff has cut a big chunk from its iPhone Air price too, with £220 off when splitting the cost with a monthly contract. Customers can now get a 150GB data allowance for the price of 50GB for £34.89 per month, plus £37 upfront.
This beats Sky Mobile’s rival package, which comes with 50GB for £37 monthly and £12 upfront. Technology Editor David Snelling was in attendance when the iPhone Air was revealed at Apple’s California headquarters last year and said he was ‘wowed’ by its ‘stunning design’.
“I have to say I’m mightily impressed,” he said. “Open the box, lift it out of the packaging, and you can’t help but be wowed by the Air’s stunning design.
“This phone is so thin and light, at 5.64mm and 165g, it’s almost impossible to fathom. The Ceramic Shield Glass 2 on the back with a matt finish and shiny titanium frame all add to the appeal and also make the phone feel super premium in the hand.

“Along with its striking looks, the iPhone Air also packs a glorious 6.5-inch ProMotion screen into its shell, which looks bright, clear and packed with detail. Tucked under its wafer-thin body is the latest A19 Pro chip, the same found in the iPhone 17 Pro, which supplies ludicrous amounts of power.”
In his final verdict, David awarded the iPhone Air an impressive four stars, saying: “There’s plenty to like about the Air, and it's definitely one of the most exciting updates in a while. However, there are compromises, and it can't match its siblings in terms of camera or overall battery life.”
Despite this, he added: “The Air is a surprisingly good device that will turn heads when pulled from your pocket. Its size is mind-blowing, and it still gets a great screen, super-speedy processor and tough design.”
