The allure of the mystery box has captivated shoppers across the nation, with its unpredictable contents offering a thrill one person compared to "winning the lotterry".

This excitement was palpable for one Lidl customer who struck gold with his purchase and eagerly shared his experience on Facebook's Extreme Couponing and Bargaining group.

The mystery boxes are brimming with assorted items from Lidl's famous middle aisle and it's a weekly highlight for bargain hunters, featuring a random mix of discounted products.

Overjoyed with his find, Andrew Marshall posted a photo of his treasure trove, exclaiming: "Here's my Lidl Mystery box haul, not bad at all for £20. It was delivered by DPD this afternoon."

Andrew's bounty included a variety of home essentials such as an electric keyboard, headphones, digital radio, a pizza baking set, and a cosy knitted fleece jacket. His leisure pursuits were also catered for with the addition of swimming goggles and a wetsuit.

The post soon garnered enthusiastic responses from hundreds of fellow Facebook users, all eager to join in on the action. Andrew further explained: "For anyone wondering, I seen a post on here last week advising that Lidl were going to be doing the mystery boxes. So I waited until they were released, which I think was 10am. They limited it to 1,000 boxes."

He went on to discuss the process, adding: "It was a bit of a faff as my payment kept declining, however I just kept trying the payment and eventually it went through. Didn't expect to get one, but seem to have been one of the lucky ones. Obviously all sold out now, fingers crossed they do them again."

Earlier this month, Lidl announced their mystery box promotion, marketing it online: "Coupon holders could receive anything from a Grillmeister 2-Burner Gas Barbeque to a Tower Air Fryer 5 in 1 Smokeless Grill, a Livarno Garden Furniture Set or even an Inflatable All-Round Stand-Up Paddle Board so run don't walk!"

Lidl added: "Available while stocks last. All proceeds of the Mystery Boxes will be donated to the NSPCC."
