A former Tesco employee has shared some of the most peculiar customer requests they encountered while working as an online order picker.

At Tesco, pickers play a crucial role in the supermarket's operations, primarily tasked with gathering items for online orders to prepare them for delivery. After several years on the job, one is bound to encounter their fair share of odd requests.

Taking to Reddit's r/tesco forum, an ex-Tesco picker posted about their experiences under the title "amusing orders I've gotten over the years".

They revealed they worked at Tesco for several years, and invited Reddit users to enjoy some of the more unusual orders they had come across.

The Reddit post featured four images showcasing peculiar orders, some accompanied by quirky customer notes. One image displayed an order for 400g of loose ginger root, with the customer requesting: "Fresh pieces please not old/wrinkly like my husband."

Another order was for a whopping 68 cans of mushy peas, split evenly between two brands.

A third order curiously requested one "woman", while the fourth image simply showed a basket with just a bottle of Jack Daniels and a tube of Durex lube.

In the comments section, another Tesco employee shared an unusual note they found on an order regarding bananas. They wrote: "Today I had a note on bananas that read 'please help yourself to a banana :) x' which I thought was very sweet."

When asked if they indulged in the offer, they further clarified: "I didn't, no. It was my first pick and I'd not long brushed my teeth so didn't fancy it."
