When it comes to looking for new places to go do you often go to the same old spots?

Well, if you're looking to try something new in terms of food and drink destinations then we may be the place for you.

Even better it has a tonne of history for you. So, where is it?

Residing on the former grounds of King Henry VIII’s Bridewell Palace 1515-1523, which is famously where he divorced Katherine of Aragon, is the Grade II-listed hotel, Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars.

However, inside is a cocktail bar called Leaf & Cane where we got to try some of the food and drink.

The Latino bar was a far cry when Edward VI gave the palace to the City of London and by the 18th Century, it became a famous women’s prison.

Leaf & Cane recently opened the outside terrace which is situated below street level, featuring nine original stone vaults.

This was once part of the historic women’s prison, where we had a memorable experience. It does feel eerie with the amount of history running through the venue.

The bar has several Latin American-inspired dishes, from Beef Quesadilla and Coxinha to Cassava Fries and Pão De Queijo.

We got to try the Beef Quesadilla which is simply moorish and you can't help but have more than one even if you are sharing with friends.

Meanwhile, the bar’s signature dish Dulce Churros is not to be missed thanks to the sugary treat transporting you to Latin America.

And if you're looking for something a little different on an evening out, the venue plays host to live entertainment ranging from jazz tunes to Afro-Cuban beats.

Guests can start their evening in a colourful escape reminiscent of the tribe life which it’s inspired by its decor, music and food menu.
