For many, Friday the 13th is a day where they refuse to even leave their homes out of fear something will go terribly wrong if they do.

According to National Geographic, the belief that 13 and Friday are unlucky together likely came from the Bible.

They wrote: “It's hard to know exactly when Friday the 13th became thought of as unlucky, but it likely comes from the Christian religion.

“For example, in the Bible, Judas—a person who is said to have betrayed Jesus—was the 13th guest at the Last Supper. Also in the Bible, many unfortunate things happened on Fridays.”

However, @witchcrafteduk on TikTok is urging people to reframe their thoughts about Friday the 13th with a short clip.

“Did you know that Friday 13th is actually a day to celebrate feminine power and goddess energy?”, she wrote.

“The number 13 is closely linked to femininity throughout the lunar calendar - the lunar calendar has 13 cycles (give or take) with the moon associated with feminine energy. Plus the menstrual cycle is also considered to be in close alignment with the lunar cycle”, the video continued.

But “what about Friday?”. She explained that Friday is often associated with the “goddess” and is a day of “sacred feminine”.

She added: “It’s a day that is often related to Venus (the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility)”.

It was then explained that the planet Venus is “particularly interesting” as “every eight years on earth (13 Venus orbits) Venus completes a path that forms a pentagram shape (sometimes called the five petals of Venus”.

During the rise of “patriarchal religions”, the TikToker said that goddesses and the number 13 were “demonised”.

She also explained the Last Supper connotations, with Judas being the 13th guest - and he betrayed Jesus, so many believe it to be an unlucky number.

Also, during the witch hunts, both 13 and Friday became associated with “bad luck and evil”.

“Many are now reclaiming Friday the 13th as a day to celebrate feminine energy and move away from the negative connotations that have long plagued this day”, she finished the video by saying.
