The "most attractive" and "least attractive" accents have been unveiled, with the Dublin accent deemed as the most attractive in the UK and Ireland. A whopping 58 percent of those surveyed confessed their fondness for the accent, particularly noted for its emphasised 'r' sounds.

Elsewhere, in Scotland, the Edinburgh accent took the top spot for its soft, musical tone. The survey, commissioned by Netflix ahead of the premiere of Love is Blind UK, saw 2,000 people give their thoughts on the "sexiest" accents in the UK and Ireland.

The Edinburgh accent, known for sounding more English than many other Scots accents, was favoured by 37 percent of those surveyed.

However, the Glaswegian accent didn't fare as well, being dubbed the "least sexy" accent in Scotland. Known for its fast pace and dropping the double 't' sound in words like 'water' and 'bottle', it was deemed unattractive by 47 percent of respondents.

The survey also revealed that 49 percent of people find regional accents appealing, while a mere eight percent don't find them attractive at all. Interestingly, 59 percent admitted they've been drawn to someone solely based on their accent, and a staggering 81 percent would tolerate an annoying accent if the person was physically attractive, reports the Daily Record.

In a surprising twist, 72 percent of respondents believe it's possible to fall head over heels for someone just by hearing their voice, even without seeing them.

However, 87 percent of singletons admit they form a mental image of what a person looks like when they message or speak to them on the phone.
