An English woman who lives in Spain harshly criticised the behaviour of British tourists when visiting her town.

The female, known as Anna on TikTok, boasts over 3,000 followers on the platform. She was recently asked the most common stereotypes which received a flurry of comments.

And it turns out they were mostly negative. In Spain, tourism is one of its major strengths, especially during summer.

Among the thousands of people who come to visit Spain from other countries, the English are some of the most frequent tourists. They often declare themselves lovers of the Spanish weather, cuisine and general cheerfulness.

Although many come with their families or seeking relaxation, it's also well-known that another type of tourism heavily represented by the English seeks out parties and 'chaos'.

In response to this negative image, Anna who has been living in Spain for almost a year spoke out.

Using her TikTok account as a platform to share her experience living in Spain, the young woman was asked about the most popular stereotypes regarding the English in Spain.

According to her, thousands of comments filled the post indicating various ideas Spaniards have about English tourists. Among them, she was struck by how many mention that "wearing socks with flip flops" is very much an English thing.

She joked: "I am English and you would never see me wearing socks with sandals." However, there's another stereotype that has been repeated and which she is quite aware of.

Discussing Brits who love to party, Anna revealed: "I'm going to talk about it. It's embarrassing there are English people who go to Spain for holidays and ruin the reputation of the whole country when they are in Spain."

She added: "Their behaviour is terrible and there are definitely people with a superiority complex who get extremely drunk and I do not identify with this at all.

"I can't talk about all the comments I received regarding stereotypes, but I want to emphasise that we are not all the same." Additionally, she took the opportunity to clarify she loves Spain and respects the country greatly.

In her video, it racked up more than 3,000 likes and hundreds of comments. She explained how she uploaded the video because she was asked about wearing socks with flip flops.

The clip, where she spoke Spanish, she said: "I knew we didn't have a very good reputation in Spain, but now I can see that we have a really bad reputation in Spain.

"I'm going to talk about it, but I also wanted to highlight a comment about English people always wearing socks with flip flops that made me laugh because I have never seen such a thing.

"I have never done it and I would never do it, but it made me laugh. As I told you, there are many negative comments about the behaviour of the English in Spain. It's so embarrassing.

"I obviously know it's true. I'm not gonna say it isn't. It's embarrassing that there are English people who go to Spain for holidays and ruin the reputation of the whole country when they are in Spain."

She concluded: "I studied Spanish before moving, but here I've learned more about the culture. I love Spain and I greatly respect the country, the people and the language. Even though some people have destroyed our reputation in Spain, I hope you know many people don't behave like that."
