Protesters clash with police at Holiday Inn in Tamworth

Protestors have smashed windows and set fire to a UK Holiday Inn, believed to house asylum seekers.

Police can be seen attempting to control angry rioters who have gathered outside the hotel in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

This is the second Holiday Inn that has been targeted today following violent riots outside another Holiday Inn in Rotherham.

Tamworth Police warned that "robust action will be taken against those responsible for violence and disorder".

Videos posted online show dozens of rioters confronting police outside the hotel. One shows rioters wearing black face coverings and chanting: "Whose streets? Our streets."

Another shocking video shows rioters entering the building via a broken window as crowds cheer outside when a fire is started inside the hotel. Yobs are also seen throwing rocks and what appear to be bricks at the building as police with shields protect the building.

It comes after a group of violent thugs - some with children - smashed the windows of Holiday Inn in Rotherham before pouring inside and setting fire to the building.

The sizeable mob, many draped in England and Union Jack flags, gathered outside the hotel just before midday and were met with a considerable counter rally chanting pro-migrant slogans.

Tensions escalated with footage posted on social media showing the protesters hurling objects at police officers, forcing them to retreat.

The protesters could then be seen flooding into the ground floor of the hotel through the broken windows before setting a fire on the ground floor.

At least 100 arrests have been made so far after violence erupted around the UK last night, with more protests planned today.

Anti-immigration protesters will this afternoon gather in Bolton, Lancaster, Middlesborough, Weymouth, Rotherham and Newcastle Upon Tyne, among other locations.

EDL founder Tommy Robinson has insisted the widespread anarchy is "not on him" despite encouraging far-right activists to "control your boys, direct them".

This week's riots were sparked by the fatal stabbing of three little girls at a dance class in Southport on Monday, with false information concerning the identity and immigration status of the suspect circulating online.

Tamworth police said: "We’re urging members of the public to avoid the area around the Holiday Inn, Tamworth, as specialist officers continue to deal with violent acts of thuggery tonight (4 August).

"A large group of individuals are in the area and have been throwing projectiles, smashing windows, starting fires and targeting police.

"One officer has been injured.

"Officers are working valiantly to keep the public safe. Specialist drone surveillance and the national police air service (NPAS) have been sweeping the area as our efforts to identify those involved continue."
