Ice is something many people like to have in the freezer, especially during the summer months.

After a long day at work, or on a hot day, it's always lovely to pop some in a drink to make sure it's cool and refreshing. But, sadly, it's not something we always have to hand.

If you don't have an ice cube tray, it's easy to forget to buy some, and you may think it's tricky to make. But this won't be the case from now on.

It turns out you don't need a tray to make ice cubes, and ensure you're always fully stocked. Thanks to a savvy mum on TikTok, the ultimate hack has been revealed to enable you to make ice in a hurry.

The method is so simple that you'll be surprised you've never seen it before. This is one clever trick that will change your life forever.

The woman, known as yana_mom on social media, shared the easy way to make ice. In the short video, you see her filling a zip sandwich bag with water before sealing it, and popping it into the freezer.

After a few hours, the water completely freezes inside the bag, which means you can break it into little pieces. She is seen covering the frozen parcel with a towel before using a utensil to crush the ice and break it up.

That's all it takes to make ice in a hurry, and it couldn't be any easier. People have been raving about the trick since it was shared, as the clip has been liked over 300,000 times.

Social media users dubbed the hack "great", and said it's a game changer for people who don't have trays at home. If the temperature suddenly rises, or you host an impromptu party, at least you now know you can whip up some ice pretty quickly.

Handy hints like this really do help to make life much easier sometimes.

One person said: "I've lived with a broken freezer that never produced ice for like eight years, and you're telling me this is all I had to do?"

Another wrote: "Been doing this for the last two weeks, and I'm so happy." A third replied: "Essential life skills they don't teach you in school."

Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "I'm going to try this recipe this weekend. Thanks for sharing."

Some people did point out they think using a tray is much easier but, obviously, not everyone has one. For those who don't, the trick offers a simple alternative, and means you always have a back-up plan.

Now we can all make sure our bevvies are nice and chilled this summer.
