There's a simple method to keep cats and slugs out of your garden using something you would've thrown out anyway.
Cats coming into your garden can be a nuisance at times, especially when they stomp on your plants and damage them.
Thankfully, there’s a simple hack to keep them out, and it’s a bit of common household rubbish that would’ve been thrown out anyway.
A lot of people toss out their coffee grounds after making fresh coffee, but there are many things putting coffee grounds in the soil can accomplish.
According to Insight Security, warding off cats is one of them.
They said: “The strong smell of coffee can be enough to keep cats off of your garden.
“Simply take your fresh, wet coffee grounds and distribute them around your borders and plants where you want to discourage feline attention. What’s more, the coffee grounds are entirely biodegradable so they will decompose and enrich your soil.”
Additionally, coffee grounds can also help deter slugs.
Steve Chilton, Gardening expert and director of LeisureBench, said: “You can also use coffee grounds as a natural deterrent for certain pests."

Most commonly, they are used as a natural method how to get rid of slugs.
“Coffee grounds have been known to deter slugs and snails due to its abrasive texture and smell," he added.
“Sprinkling coffee grounds around vulnerable plants can create a barrier which can often help keep them away.”
