Two top motoring experts have shared their thoughts on some of the best high-end European cars that drivers can buy on the used car market for under £10,000.

Adam Morris and Jim Hull are two Australian petrol heads who run the YouTube channel ReDriven, regularly appearing in videos in which they discuss the best used models to buy and alternatives to avoid.

In a recent video, the pair discuss the best used European cars for a £10,000 budget, with Adam stating that an Abarth 695 offers plenty of power and fun for the money.

He advised: "These are fun to drive, fun to look at, they're economical, they're properly good. The thing that surprises me about this, when we did our research, the more recent you go, they're actually pretty reliable.

"They've been running the same engines and platform for a long time now so they've sorted out a lot of the issues, so this last generation of the Abarth 695 is pretty good."

First introduced back in 2008, the Abarth 595 and 695 is a more powerful variant of the ever-popular Fiat 500 city car, often identifiable from a more aggressive bodykit and larger alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet, all Fiat 500-based Abarths feature a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine, which can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 6.8 seconds yet will still get around 47mpg in mixed driving conditions.

Whilst drivers will be hard pressed to find a clean, low-mileage Abarth 695 on a £10,000 budget, there are a wide range of 595s available at that price point, many of which being under five years old.

Later in the video, Jim highlighted that a £10,000 budget is enough to get a clean example of a previous-generation, 2011 to 2019, BMW 3-Series Estate, which is perfect for growing families.

He continued: "My medium-sized car would be an F31 BMW [3-Series] wagon. I'm a family guy, I've got kids, and I like the look of these. It's a true medium car, not an SUV, and I would happily have one of these.

"They look great. They only make them with four-cylinder engines, they don't have any really fast options, but they're just a cool car."

Finally, Adam recommended that used car buyers looking for something that offers a good mix of performance and style for £10,000 consider an Alfa Romeo Giulia.

He added: "My pick, no surprise here, is an Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce. I adore this car, and I know you're not a massive fan, but they're surprisingly reliable. There are some issues, but they seem to be solvable, and what a spectacular car.

"I would have one of those in a heartbeat, and the pricing is not bad either. It's a lot more exciting than most."
