A Wheeler Dealers host has admitted they “learned new skills” while filming the latest season of the popular classic car restoration programme.

Marc Priestley, nicknamed Elvis, revealed he secured some top motoring advice from a “bush mechanic in Australia” during the production of the latest World Tour series.

Although Marc kept details about his lesson close to his chest, he did reveal the duo worked with experts on the Australian bush.

Marc stressed that mechanics working in the outback simply “didn’t have the luxury” of workshops in the UK.

This has led to Marc and TV host Mike Brewer learning new ways to restore cars from locals in their field of expertise.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Marc said: That’s been one of the highlights of this series for both of us. We’ve travelled the world to see people who are so passionate about cars.

“They’ve got their own expertise and we do things quite often in a different way.

“Somebody who works on cars in the middle of the outback in Australia doesn’t have the luxury of all the tools and equipment that we kind of maybe take for granted here in the UK.

"I was able to learn some amazing skills from a bush mechanic in Australia who we worked with for a couple of weeks down there.

“And equally he was able to take some things that I was able to share with him.

“Mike’s been out to meet all sorts of people in these territories too. We've all shared experiences and shared knowledge and expertise.”

This week will see Wheeler Dealers air two episodes of their Australian trip as the World Tour continues.

The first episode will see Mike and Elvis engage in the ultimate Aussie showdown as Ford takes on Holden.

In the episode, the team will put the stunning Ford XR8 through its paces against the Holden GTS at the iconic Bathurst Mount Panorama circuit. The second show will see the duo fully restore a classic 1970s VW campervan.

The team will get to work on the stunning model in an attempt to turn the motor into a long-range camper fit for the Australian wilderness.

Marc added: “That’s what I hope the audience will really appreciate in this show.

“They are going to get all of the normal things they have always done, fixing up cars, learning and teaching the audience how to buy and sell them, but also tapping into that global network of experts in their own field that often have a very different set of experiences to us.”
