Land Rover car insurance warning as company refuses to cover cars
As car insurance prices continue to rise, some owners of Jaguar and Land Rover models have said they were refused insurance by the company.
A number of Land Rover drivers have complained about high insurance prices after the company has refused to provide cover for some of its cars.
As the cost of car insurance rises for almost everyone on the road, some owners of the British-made off-roaders have noted that high quotes are making their vehicles uninsurable.
Speaking to AutoExpress, Jonathan Hardwick complained that, despite proving that his car is secure, he needs to pay nearly £1,800 per year to insure his Range Rover Velar.
He said: “I am alarmed at how my car insurance has gone up three-fold this year. The car has a tracker and is kept behind a locked gate at night, always having a Krooklok fitted when parked.
“But on comparison sites, the cheapest premium I can find is £1,780.”

Launched in October 2023, Land Rover Insurance provides fully comprehensive cover to owners with no hidden fees and genuine parts.
The company claims that, by December 2023, they had more than 8,500 clients covered by one of their insurance policies with the average driver paying under £200 per month.
However, some owners of models made by JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) have stated that they were refused insurance by the company.

A spokesperson for JLR noted that the company is working on providing insurance to a wider range of models at an affordable price.
They wrote: “Land Rover Insurance is a new opportunity to support our clients in insuring our vehicles. Still in its infancy, we are collating data to enable us to refine and improve the offering, but we are in challenging market conditions where all motor insurance prices are continuing to rise.
“As the data matures, we are working to be able to extend the offering to even more clients. As this occurs, we will be proactively reviewing previously declined quotes to determine whether we can offer an insurance solution and contact clients accordingly.”
One of the main reasons why Land Rovers and Range Rovers in particular are seeing such an increase in car insurance is due to the amount that are typically stolen each year.
To help cut the number of thieves from using keyless entry to gain access to Land Rover and Range Rover models, in November 2023 JLR announced a number of measures to help motorists protect their car.
The company noted that more than 70,000 cars, including Land Rover Defenders, Range Rovers and some Jaguar models made since 2018, have been fitted with an upgraded security system.
