La La Land’s Emma Stone reveals moment she ‘went into MELTDOWN’ over Ryan Gosling disaster
LA LA LAND is finally out in UK cinemas today, but it’s not the first time its lauded stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have worked together.

In 2011 they teamed up for warmly-received romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid Love; which also boasted Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore in its all star-cast.
One of its best moments saw Gosling and Stone’s characters trying to recreate the iconic lift from Dirty Dancing, with Stone famously declaring to her topless co-star: “It’s like you’re Photoshopped!”
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, however, the 28-year-old explained that it wasn’t as romantic and effortless as it looked.
“The Dirty Dancing lift didn’t go to plan,” she joked.

The Dirty Dancing lift didn’t go to plan
“When I was seven years old I broke both my arms because my gym teacher let go of my ankles when I was on parallel bars and I fell six feet to the ground.
“When we did the film I knew Ryan was going to lift me up but what I didn’t know was that I had an internalised phobia about being lifted six feet in the air… and it all went horribly wrong.”
Gosling interjected: “I’ve never had this experience but I can only imagine if a possum fell out of a tree, landed on my head and tried to scratch my eyes out it would be something similar.”
Stone added: “I went into full meltdown, I had to lie down and watch Labyrinth while crying!”

The duo were a big hit in the romcom
Both stars are picking up copious awards buzz for new venture La La Land, with them each receiving a Golden Globe last weekend.
However, it has since emerged that two very different names were initially attached to the musical.
La La Land is in cinemas now. The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One at 10:35pm tonight.
