There are hundreds of World War II movies focused on the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany. But only a select few are considered the greatest in depicting the Allied fight back to liberate Europe from the evil Nazi hoards, by forcing them into retreat all the way back to unconditional surrender in Berlin. Check out the film fan IMDb ranked Top 10 Nazi-smashing World War II movies below, in which Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds missed out on No 1.

This World War II comedy heist movie sees Clint Eastwood star opposite Telly Savalas, Don Rickles and Donald Sutherland. The plot follows a group of American soldiers who learn about Nazi gold hidden behind enemy lines from a drunk German. As a result, they head off on a mission to steal it for themselves. While filming the movie, Eastwood was on the floor laughing after sharing some bad news with Sutherland.
