Coronation Street: Daniel convinces Sinead to move away
Brocklebank joined Coronation Street as vicar Mayhew in 2014 and has dated Anthony Cotton's character Sean Tully and Todd Grimshaw, played by Bruno Langley, on the show.
Mallard is a relative newcomer having joined in January. He is the third actor to play Barlow's son.
Earlier this year he opened up about his sexuality and said he feared viewers would struggle to believe his onscreen relationship with Sinead Tinker, played by Katie McGlynn.
“I never planned to keep it quiet that I was gay," he said.
“The only concern I had at first was if I’m with a female character, will an audience who knows I’m gay in real life believe it? But that was just my own fears because I do believe they will.”
