The 50-year-old had been under investigation following allegations filed by an anonymous woman, however an update from the Metropolitan Police confirmed there was "insufficient evidence to proceed".
It also said that Chris was questioned under caution at an east London police station before finding out what his future held.
The presenter has since commented: "There are some front page stories concerning myself this morning, the resolution of which means today would have been a very good day in the Evans’ household."

Chris recently quit Top Gear after just one series
This latest controversy comes after a turbulent few months for him, as he quit the BBC Two motoring show after it failed to pull in audiences previously seen in the Jeremy Clarkson era.
Furthermore, he was pictured urinating on the side of a busy motorway and swigging from a bottle of brandy at the weekend, sparking concerns for his welfare.
Top Gear is expected to return in 2017.
