Nick Grimshaw apologises for 'unacceptable' acid joke aimed at X Factor boss Simon Cowell
THE X FACTOR'S Nick Grimshaw could be set to feel the wrath of Simon Cowell after making a tasteless joke towards him this week.
Nick Grimshaw has said sorry for jokingly saying he'd throw acid over Simon Cowell
The radio DJ has publicly apologised after flippantly saying that he'd throw acid over his talent show co-star, when asked if he would replicate Sharon Osbourne's now infamous water-chucking incident.
"That is always a classic… or acid," the 31-year-old reportedly replied during an interview with the Daily Mirror.
However, Simon, 56, may not necessarily see the funny side of Nick's remark as he has been an ambassador for acid-attack victim Katie Piper's charity since it was founded.
Katie, also 31, suffered horrific burns after sulphuric acid was thrown at her by a former boyfriend back in 2008.

Nick has since claimed his joke was "unacceptable" in a statement issued to the newspaper.
It read: "Nick's comment about Simon was an off-the-cuff remark and in hindsight he fully appreciates that it was unacceptable."
It comes after the northern star claimed his boss was lying about The X Factor "ghost", which caused a stir at Judges' Houses.

During an appearance on Alan Carr's Chatty Man, Nick admitted that Simon has a tendency to lie and could have been exaggerating about the ghoul which apparently visited his chateau in France's Loire Valley.
"Now I can't tell if he is lying or not. He does lie. He is adamant that his house was haunted and that he saw a ghost," he said.

The X Factor continues on ITV tonight at 8pm.
