Fans were devastated when the vocalist announced he would be walking away from the series as it underwent the biggest changes in its 12 year history.
Today, the man with the booming voice revealed that bosses have persuaded him to come back and he's particularly excited about one "nasty" contestant.
"While I was looking forward to getting my weekends back I have been so touched by the comments of thousands of fans of the show who were disappointed at my departure, that I am now delighted to say I'm back at The X Factor microphone and really looking forward to tackling the names of this season's finalists - especially Bupsi!" he said. "I'll try to make it sound as nasty as possible!"
Peter was absent from last week's live edition of Judges' Houses and replaced by renown voiceover star Redd Pepper.
The star will make his comeback on tomorrow night's first live show
Back in July, Peter tweeted: "After the best 11 years with the X Factor, it's time for me to check out and cut loose."
Peter already voices Britain's Got Talent, Live At The Apollo, Family Fortunes and All Star Mr & Mrs.
Peter said he's particularly excited for Bupsi
Speaking to The Big Issue in 2013, he admitted that the best part of his job is entertaining the nation while remaining relatively anonymous.
He said: "When The X Factor is on more than 100 million people per week hear my voice. Combined with all the radio, TV shows and commercials I do, maybe that’s an underestimation.

The first X Factor live shows kick off tomorrow night
"While my voice is very famous and identifiable, nobody knows what I look like – thank goodness. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be really, really famous, living your life in a gilded cage. What an awful price to pay for just doing your job."
The X Factor airs tomorrow night at 7.30pm on ITV1.
