New Top Gear host Chris Evans gets MOBBED as he leaves the BBC in vintage Aston Martin
THERE was no way Chris Evans could make a low-key exit from the BBC studios today, which were unsurprisingly surrounded with photographers and films crews.
Chris Evans caused a stir outside the BBC Radio 2 studios today
The presenter was in London to present his daily breakfast show on Radio 2, just hours after he was announced as the new host of Top Gear.
The 49-year-old, who will replace Jeremy Clarkson in a new three-year deal, attempted to make a quit exit in his classic blue Aston Martin - but failed to do so.
Reporters were no doubt desperate to get his first thoughts on his upcoming role, after a conrtact was signed this week.
Chris looked upbeat despite his early start, after opting for a leather jacket and jeans, while keeping his aviator sunglasses firmly on.

He tweeted his 1.88 million followers shortly afterwards, writing: "They'll never take me alive. Table for one fry up. And then back to work."
The star had quipped earlier in the day: "Morning Wednesday, had a dream last night that… Oh no, hang on."
Meanwhile, Chris told listeners that until recently he had not been offered the job, only receiving a text three months earlier from Mark Linsey, the BBC's head of entertainment saying: "If anything happened in the future, would you be up for a conversation?"

The star told his listeners that the situation had changed when May and Hammond pulled out
But last week Chris said that the "situation had changed", after hosts James May and Richard Hammond made the decision not to return to the motoring show.
He added: "I categorically ruled myself out of running - I didn't want to be a pawn in a chess game involving three of my friends.
"I did not want to be involved in bookies odds, that's not what the situation needed. I had to get out of that madness."
