Sir David Jason issued a major warning to Only Fools and Horses fans as he appeared on Zoe Ball’s BBC radio show.

The iconic actor revealed that he hated it when fans referenced his unforgettable character Del Boy as a “euphemism for cheating the system.”

The 84-year-old told the presenter: “I’ve noticed over recent years, the people that use his persona is to aim more and more towards the cheating side, if you like.

“So if you’re trying to sell something that’s not very good or whatever you say ‘who are you then Del Boy or something,’ so they’re beginning to use Del Boy as a crook.

"I think they’re missing the point. He’s not—he’s just a failed businessman, but his heart is in the right place."

The Del Boy star continued: “Over the years in Fools and Horses you’ll have noticed that he loves his brother and his grandad and his uncle Albert.

“It’s family, its wonderful how they treat each other sometimes but the love is the strongest part of all of that."

Jason added: “I’m a bit disappointed that people are using him as a euphemism for cheating the system so stop doing that.”

Zoe echoed: “Stop doing that, you’ve had your knuckles wrapped. Well said.”
