BBC bosses have reportedly “drawn a line” after Katya Jones and Wynne Evans’ “grope” shock was the latest scandal to come from Strictly Come Dancing after a controversial year.

Saturday’s show sparked uproar among viewers after the opera singer was spotted putting his arm around the professional dancer’s waist.

After initially placing his hand at her side, the celebrity contestant could be seen wrapping his arm around her stomach, which led Katya to pull his hand back to her side.

This took place while Strictly co-host Claudia Winkleman talked about what was next to come on the show.

Fans accused Wynne of “groping” the 35-year-old, which happened after Katya was seen rejecting his high-five and pulling a disgusted face.

This controversy was the latest to emerge from the show after the BBC recently finalised misconduct accusations against their former dancer, Giovanni Pernice, as well as “bullying” claims Graziano Di Prima.

An insider via The Sun explained that bosses wanted to "draw a line" under all the troubling claims that have been coming out over the past year.

The source continued: “The rap over the knuckles from Strictly was informal and there aren’t any plans to take any further action against them. But ultimately, amid all the controversy, viewers are left not knowing quite what to think.”

The BBC are reportedly furious about the incident but allegedly believes Katya and Wynne’s explanation that it was an inside “joke.”

The dance partners addressed the backlash with an online video and assured viewers with an apology.

Katya said: “We were just messing around in the Clauditorium and just want to say sorry.”

He said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. Katya and I are really, really close and really good friends.

“It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK?

"We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. I’m sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke.

“I feel weird apologising because I feel like I’ve not done anything,” Wynne added.
