Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason admitting to "snagging" some of the props from the iconic sitcom - But his wife "hated" it.

The Del Boy actor claimed to have taken a "souvenir" from the set, where he played the role of a comedic market trader. The character was well known for his stylish dress sense, often seen with a snazzy coat and flat cap.

The 84-year-old admitted to taking a sheepskin jacket from the set of the BBC sitcom but rarely wears it. He explained: “I don’t dress like Del, despite having snaffled one of his coats from the wardrobe department at the end of the series as a souvenir.”

The coat, he said, was “very snug, actually, but not terribly stylish”. He went on: “My wife gently suggested they made me look, and slightly smell, like a camel.”

The coats were just one of many staples in the British comedy. Another was Del Boy's three-wheeled van, which sold for an eye-watering sum at auction in recent years.

The yellow Reliant Regal appeared in numerous instalments of the beloved BBC sitcom and served as the Trotters’ main mode of transport.

The iconic automobile, which can reach a top speed of 55mph, has been sold at auction for £8,000 more than the asking price. It’s understood a private collector sold the automobile at Classic Car Auctions of Ashorne, Warks, for a jaw-dropping £26,000. It was sold alongside various props from the show, including a blow-up doll reminiscent of those featured in the series six episode, ‘Danger UXD’.

Another prop that sold for thousands of pounds was the pocket watch that made Del Boy and Rodney overnight millionaires. While still being worth a pretty penny in real life, the so-called Harrison Lesser Watch that sold for £6.2million in the BBC sitcom was tipped to make a mere £15,000 when it went to auction.

In the 1996 episode Time On Our Hands, Raquel’s antiques dealer father spots an old watch that had sat for years on an oven hob in her boyfriend Del’s garage.

Her father correctly identifies it as the historic missing Harrison watch and it is sold at auction for £6.2million – causing both brothers, played by David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, to faint in shock.

Three watches were made for the episode, with one selling at auction for £35,000. In 2007, one of the two remaining BBC prop watches was stolen from the Only Fools And Horses Museum in Diss, Norfolk.
