Coleen Nolan has praised her "elegant" friend and Loose Women co-star Ruth Langsford for the way she's handled her split from Eamonn Holmes.

The couple's shocking split hit the headlines back in May when a spokesperson confirmed that they have began divorce proceedings after 14 years of marriage.

They went on to say that the pair are "determined to stay friends and keep things amicable”.

Ruth, 64, has remained silent about their separation so far, while Eamonn thanked fans for their support on GB News just days after the news was made public.

He has since moved on with rumoured girlfriend Katie Alexander, while Ruth continues to focus on her work commitments.

Addressing her co-star's split four months on, Coleen said: "Ruth and I keep in touch all the time. She's back at work now, which is great because I really missed her.

"I don't want to say too much because it's not my business to say Ruth's life, but what I will say from a friend's point of view is, I've never met anyone that has handled something with so much dignity and pride.

"She's just such a lady, more of a lady then I'll ever be, I would've spilled my guts right now - as I do, that's my problem, I say too much. She's been absolutely amazing, she really has."

Coleen went on to say she had questioned Ruth on how she had managed to stay silent and even offered her some advice, but claims she didn't take it on board.

"I've given her advice but she doesn't listen to me, I'm going, 'How can you not say anything?' But I don't need to give her advice," she told Woman Magazine.

Coleen said she also still continues to regularly check in with Ruth to see how she is doing, adding: "I just love her and I'm in awe of how she's handled everything."

Ruth and Eamonn tied the knot back in 2010 and share 22-year-old son Jack together, while he also has three older children from his first marriage.

Despite their split, both have continued to wear their weddings rings.

Quizzed on why this was the case by a social media user recently, she blunty replied: "Because I'm still married."

Ruth is still said to be living at their previously shared Surrey home, while Eamonn is reportedly renting a flat in London close to the GB News studio.
