Graham Norton previously admitted he never thought he'd get married - but after meeting Jonathan, he made a major change to his mindset.

The BBC star revealed that tying the knot left him feeling as if he'd "turned on his tribe" and done something unexpected. However, married life has been treating him well ever since.

Discussing his relationship in an interview with gay lifestyle magazine Attitude, he declared: "It’s good! I feel like I’ve turned on my tribe. You know when people in relationships, or who are married, want it for you? You just want me to do it to validate the choice you made!"

However, he added that he is "enjoying" the results of his decision to commit to Jonathan. "I was older, so I went into it with my eyes wide open," he explained.

"You know the pitfalls of relationships, the dangers - but I met someone who I was willing to take a bet on.” He'd previously admitted on Friday's Late Late Show: "It does feel weird. When I say 'My husband’ I go, ‘Really?’ I never thought I’d get married, but here we are!"

Graham continued: "I think it’s got something to do with getting older. I think the vows are easier.

"For instance: at my age, ‘Till death do us part’ is much more achievable. When you’re 20, that’s a big ask."

He wed his filmmaker husband in July 2022 at a lavish ceremony in his native West Cork, Ireland, with 120 guests present.

Mischievous Graham, who was already on record as having said he'd never marry, decided to keep the ceremony a secret - even from those who attended the mysterious "party".

However, celebrities were suddenly spotted there, with everyone from Lady Gaga to Elton John drawing attention to the fact that something special was taking place.

Graham also joked that someone had sighted "Adele without makeup".

"You’d have to be thick not to have known it was a wedding," he chuckled.

Meanwhile, Graham spoke of the pleasure he feels after returning to his Irish roots, admitting West Cork is now a place he can "relax" more than anywhere else.
