'Oasis reunion will only be success if Liam and Noel Gallagher agree to do one thing'

Oasis feuding brother's Liam and Noel Gallagher haven't shared a stage in 15 years but this weekend saw them both seperately hint a reunion could be on the cards for the 90s supergroup. However, given their fractuous history relationship expert Diana Parkinson says it is "pointless" unless they can put the "negativity" behind them.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk the family counsellor said it will be "awful for everyone else involved with them" unless they can get along. "They've got to communicate," she said. "It's a very intense relationship but it's the thing of being a grown up, isn't it?

"Because it's quite ridiculous. If they're going out for a tour they're going out there to share the pleasure of their music. It's really important that they are connecting with their audience.

"So therefore if they really want to get on they must do it in a peaceful way," she advised. "I mean, it's about sort of corny, but it's about love. It's about sharing. You're creating these wonderful sounds to share - they're hugely emotional.

"It's vital that they grow up really and put all animosity aside and connect with the music The other people that are involved in playing along with them, the other musicians, are affected by any animosity as well. Any animosity has a very negative effect on any of us, because we pick up on those vibes. It's horrible," she said.

Indeed she went so far as to say the whole idea was "pointless" unless they could "appear united".

"It will be awful for anyone else involved on stage with them [if they are fighting]. And also the audience will pick up on that negativity. So it's pointless. It's about sharing music. Music can be wonderfully uniting and exciting, and [if] they can appear united, they're helping the audience to be united, not only while they're watching the performance, but also when they go home."

Ruminating on a speculated appearance at Galstonbury she used the festivals origins as an ethos for the brothers.

"Glastonbury has changed so much over the years, but the whole ethos of Glastonbury originally was kind of peace and love...and it would be nice to recreate that.

"Approach it [a reunion] with peace and love, with compassion. [If] they don't want to forgive, [then] with acceptance. Acceptance of how they are, their differences, but also their similarities.

"Because they're probably way more alike than they care to admit, and probably the bits that irritate them [about each other] are the bits that they recognise in themselves, because that's classic. It's like a parent that doesn't get on with a child. It's usually that child that's most like that parent. It's the bits we we don't like about ourselves that we see reflected and then blame the other person for."

Oasis sold more 75 million records worldwide during 18 years together, making them one of the best selling bands of all time. They had eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums.

They broke up in 2009, with Noel and Liam's difficult relationship widely considered to be one of the key reasons behind the band’s split.

With both brothers teasing fans with social media posts alluding to a reunion bookmakers have suspended betting on the band getting back together.

An official announcement is due to be made tomorrow (August 27) at 8am.
