Huw Edwards arrives at court in London
Former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards pleaded guilty to making three counts of indecent images of children when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court last month.
According to The Daily Mail, it has now been claimed the 62 year old met up with a man behind his wife’s back and allegedly groped him in a toilet during a lunch date.
Edwards allegedly befriended the man on Instagram and the pair are believed to have exchanged a string of messages. The man claimed to have begun following the newsreader on the platform in 2021 and sent him a direct message to which Edwards responded.
After exchanging Instagram messages for a few weeks, the two swapped phone numbers. They started using WhatsApp to communicate where the former broadcaster is alleged to have sent sexually explicit messages.
He told the publication they had lunch together at a high-profile restaurant where Edwards allegedly groped the man in a toilet.
The alleged victim described the encounter as "overwhelmingly predatory" and said he broke off contact with Edwards afterwards.
It comes after the BBC demanded Edwards return more than £200k of his salary earned after his arrest for making child abuse images.
BBC Chair Samir Shah told staff Edwards had "behaved in bad faith" in a letter last week.
The BBC was told in November its star newsreader had been arrested over child sex images - but kept paying him for another five months.
